Toyotama Town

Must rent a car or take the bus. About an hour drive from Izuhara port and about 1.5 hour drive from Hitakatsu port.

Watazumi Shrine
At this sea shrine, where Hikohohodemi no Mikoto and Princess Toyotama no Mikoto are deified, the ancient Palace of the Dragon King legend remain. In front of the main shrine are five torii gates, two of which are in the sea, and their appearance changes with the ebb and flow of the tide, recalling the mysteries of legendary times.

Mt. Eboshi Viewpoint
A 360-degree surveying viewpoint. The platform offers a splendid view of Aso Bay with many mountains, countless large and small islands suspended in the quiet sea, the rias coastline's waves, and more.

Shinwa no Sato Nature Park
Coupled with the gentle-wave Aso bay, the Shinwa Village Nature Park, represents the atmosphere of ancient times and provides a building for communication through cultural exchange, vehicle camping area, a plaza and lawn with a playground intended for small children, and more. The building for "communication through cultural exchange" surrounds a hearth with the appearance of old times and is used as a resting place and training institute. Experience the calm atmosphere of a Japanese garden and the abundant nature.

Tsunashima
Tsunashima is a scenic area looking out on the Korean strait, where bustling fishing boats are visible. The sunset view from here is trully stunning.

Tsushima's Belly Button
A monument of the "belly button" of Tsushima is located in Toyotama. When you drive around the island, you will sometimes see random things like this. 

Tourist Institutions

Cultural Village
A cultural meeting hall that expands contact, a local historical hall with a modern atmosphere, and Tsushima's only town hall with the latest technology for stage productions - with these three halls at the center, the area is transformed into a culture park.
