Thank you for visiting. I’m Maya, founder of this website. In April 2011, I moved to Tsushima from Tokyo to work as a designer. After moving to this beautiful island, I quickly noticed the lack of English information for foreign visitors. I also met a couple of native English speakers residing in the island who contributed in creating this website and help running the Facebook page.
Back then, I couldn't find much information on the island (even in Japanese!) so I decided to go explore on my own. Tsushima has beautiful beaches and rivers to swim during summer, and has a lot of mountains to hike and historical ruins to search during winter. Some of them were difficult to find (and dangerous), but I loved the adventure. I hope this site makes you interested and helps you learn more about Tsushima! |
Notice
As of April 2014, I will be leaving Tsushima and moving on to my next step in life. Living on Tsushima was a great experience and I enjoyed it a lot. I recommend this place for those who are seeking great nature, outdoor adventures, history, food, and friendly people. I appreciate those who contributed in making this website better and more organized. I will leave this site as it is now but please note that some of the information may change in the future.

Some of the admins will still be running the Facebook page, so feel free to ask any questions. We’re not officially working with the city, so we can’t answer every question, but we’ll do our best to be helpful. Please note that all the admins won’t be on Tsushima forever and therefore may leave the island without any notice. We will leave the Facebook page since some of the information may be useful for future visitors. We thank all those who have supported our page.
For questions, please contact the Tsushima City Hall or the Tsushima Tourism Association. However, due to a lack of English-speaking staff, you may not receive your answer in a timely manner.
